About Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times

Nothing can compensate for the anguish that childhood cancer inflicts, but since 1982, Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times® has helped thousands of children and their family members recapture hope, enthusiasm, and love of life in a medically and psychologically safe environment created especially for them.

Through 11 sessions offered throughout the year, children with cancer and their families can experience Camp together, with intentionally designed programming for all ages.

Campers spend their days trying archery, fishing, making art, gathering around the campfire and taking part in the traditions that make Camp a community. With volunteer counselors and medical professionals on-site, every session is designed so campers can safely participate, try new things, build confidence and form lasting connections with a community that understands.

Our Campsite

Nestled in the San Jacinto Mountains near Idyllwild, Camp Ronald McDonald is surrounded by mountain views, open meadows and towering pine trees. Our Apple Canyon Center is designed around the needs of our campers, with spaces for sleeping, gathering, medical care and all the activities that make Camp, Camp.

Meadow and Pond Cabin Villages are where campers stay, gather and spend time together throughout their session. Each village features five fully accessible cabins designed with campers’ comfort, privacy and needs in mind.

Inside, each sleeping pod has a privacy curtain, and large windows, ceiling fans and clerestory windows provide plenty of natural light and ventilation. Cabins are fully heated and include two full bathrooms with private toilet rooms and spacious, wheelchair-accessible showers. Outside, each cabin opens toward the village with a stone sitting porch where campers can spend time with new and old friends.

At the center of each village, an activity cabin and outdoor gathering spaces give campers room for meetings, activities, campfires and time together.

Our AS&F Dining Hall and Activity Center features a full dining room and professional food service kitchen; Fellowship Activity Hall with fireplace, audio and visual media room; and meeting room.

Roosevelt, originally built in the 1940s and recently renovated, features central heating and air conditioning, a comfortable lounging area, an outside meeting porch, a fireplace, and restrooms. Attached to the dining lodge is our Billy Foreman Kid’s Instructional Kitchen activity. Roosevelt is also home to our Camp Staff offices.

Our on-site healthcare center, known as The Med Shed, is designed specifically to support the medical needs of campers with cancer. It includes an examination room, rest and sleeping areas, a medication dispensary and the Catheter Care Cabin.

Should additional support be needed, transportation can be quickly arranged to nearby Loma Linda University Medical Center or the patient’s home hospital.

There’s plenty of room for campers to explore, play and try something new. Camp facilities support archery, hiking, fishing, arts and crafts, basketball, volleyball, sports, challenge and ropes courses, cooking, campfires and gaga, with additional seasonal opportunities including swimming and horse activities.
