The Family Room is located within the Rady Children’s Hospital at Mission, near the intensive care unit (ICU). It is a special space for families to relax and “get away” while still being close to their child. The role of a Family Room volunteer is to oversee the Family Room, uphold all Family Room and hospital policies, and be supportive to families. 

All Volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment for at least one four hour shift a week. 

Due to the delicate nature of the atmosphere of our Family Room, a mature volunteer able to handle emotional situations is best suited as a volunteer in our department. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age – high school applicants are not eligible to apply.
