Learn While Making a Difference for Families

The Family Support Services Training Program provides graduate students in clinical psychology and marriage and family therapy with hands-on experience supporting children, caregivers, couples, and families navigating serious pediatric illness.

Trainees work alongside experienced FSS professionals while providing strengths- and resilience-based support within the Ronald McDonald House® environment. The program combines supervised clinical experience, training, and direct family engagement while helping expand the support available to families.

Who Can Apply?

The practicum is designed for students in good standing in doctoral-level clinical psychology PsyD or PhD programs and master’s-level marriage and family therapy programs. Training opportunities include work with individuals, couples, children, and families; support groups; educational workshops; and therapeutic activities.

Spanish Training Track

FSS is committed to providing support that reflects the languages and cultures of the families we serve. The Spanish Training Track provides participating trainees with additional training, didactics, and supervision in Spanish to help develop linguistically and culturally responsive professionals.

A Commitment to Inclusive Practice

The FSS training model emphasizes cultural humility, social justice, and an understanding of how identity, access, and lived experience shape families’ experiences. Trainees are encouraged to recognize the whole person and family within the broader systems that affect their lives.
